The Only Three Juices You Need This January

The New Year brings many resolutions, but none more so than finally ditching the junk and getting the body we’ve always dreamed of. The over indulgence of Christmas wreaks havoc with our waistlines as well as the way our bodies function and this all adds to the heavy, sluggish feeling that so often plagues us at the start of the year.

It’s not hard to see why so many people seek to make a change in January – the New Year has signalled a new start for many thousands of years. The Babylonians reportedly made promises to the Gods to pay off debts at the start of the year and the Romans too made promises at the, this time to the God Janus.

One of the simplest and easiest ways to clean up your eating habits is to make energy-inducing, cell-reviving juices a part of your daily routine. So if you’re looking to get your body back on track after a few too many mince pies this Christmas, you’ll find these life changing juices the perfect antidote to the holiday bulge.

The Stomach Settler

1 – 2 celery stalks

handful of kale

1 inch fresh ginger

2 – 3 sprigs of mint

½ cup of water (alter according to desired consistency)

This green juice is packed with nutrients and body-repairing properties. Celery is well-known for being the ultimate weight loss friendly food given that your body expends more energy digesting it than it provides in calories. Kale is great rebalancing the bacteria in your gut and ginger is citied as a natural remedy to nausea as well as aiding digestion.

The Immune System Booster

3 small to medium beetroots

1 small orange

1 carrot

½ cucumber

Beetroot and orange combined make a wonderfully nutritional and sweet juice. Beetroot is packed with iron and vitamin c, add this to the vitamin C found in oranges and vitamin A in carrots and you’ll keep the winter colds and bay with ease. The high water content in cucumber helps to make this juice a filling alternative to sugar-laden breakfast alternatives, such as cereal.

The Fat Burner

½ grapefruit

1 apple

1 small chilli

½ tsp of cinnamon

Whilst vegetable juices are the out and out winner when it comes to packing a nutritional punch, fresh made fruit smoothies offer many benefits too. This one combines high fibre apple and grapefruit with metabolism-boosting chilli.  Grapefruit has long been thought to be an aid to weight loss as well playing a role in lowering blood sugar levels.

Getting your body back on track after overindulging is easy with the help of a nutritionally jam-packed juice. Try out these recipes for a few weeks and your body will soon reap the rewards.
