Being single gets a lot of bad press. All too often society assumes that if you’re not in a relationship you must be crying into your ice cream every evening desperately hoping you’ll meet that special someone before you eat your body weight in frozen dairy goodness. But the reality is that this is not the life of a singleton. Being single doesn’t mean we are constantly on the lookout for a partner, nor does it mean that we’re lonely. In fact, the single life is liberating. Society may not recognise this but that doesn’t mean that you don’t have to, so here are 8 reasons to get your love affair with being single started!
, You can live your life on your terms. That’s right, what you say goes and you don’t have to worry about how it will affect a significant other.
, You get to avoid relationship drama. Now this doesn’t mean you’ll be stress free, but it will save you from bickering over who picked up the last tab.
, You have more time to hang out with your friends. Enjoy endless nights with your besties completely guilt free.
, You only have your own bad habits to put up with. After all, there is only so long you can pretend their snoring isn’t giving you sleepless nights.
, You don’t have to make awkward chit-chat with the in-laws over Sunday dinner. Need I say more?!
, You can be more spontaneous. Get a last minute invite somewhere? Fancy dropping everything and just taking off? Well, being single is the perfect way to live life as a free spirit.
, You don’t need to feel guilty about putting your needs first. Putting yourself first isn’t selfish; it just means you’re ready to live life on your terms – even if you have to do it alone.
, You get all the time in the world to work on the most important relationship you’ll ever have: the one you share with yourself. The relationship you have with yourself is the only one that will span your entire lifetime so you may as well make it the most rewarding one you have!
